About Connections

Sr. Joan Foley

Connections was founded by Sr. Joan Foley, a Medical Mission Sister, in September 1991, and was incorporated as a Non-Profit Corporation in the State of Florida in June 1992.

Connections is funded by United Way of Pasco County, Pasco County Commissioners, and donations from area churches, individuals and businesses.

In August 2000, the Good Connections Thrift Shoppe was established to provide additional funding for the operational expenses of the program.

Sr. Joan Foley

Connections is governed by a Board of Directors, elected from the community of Pasco County, who guide the development of the program and ensure that program goals are met and that the program remains responsive to the needs of the unemployed individuals who come to Connections for service.

Connections is an Off-Site Partner of the Career Central One Stop Center in New Port Richey and networks with other human service providers, churches and business in order to strengthen the circle of support in the community.

You may contact Sr. Joan Foley at (727) 849-4724.

Meet our Featured Board Member: Shawn Foster

Shawn Foster

Shawn Foster,
District Director Congressman Gus Bilirakis

Q:  What drew you to offer service in this way?
A: A fundamental belief I have is that we as individuals derive self-worth from our job. There is no greater satisfaction than to empower a person to improve their life through finding and securing employment. That is what Connections Job Development/Placement Program does.

Q: How does this help you?
A: This allows me to work with a community-based organization that makes a difference in people lives. I was taught it is our duty to give back to our community.

Q: What special gift do you feel you share with the Board or to Connections?
A: I feel God has given me the ability to work and communicate well with others. I love people and it is fulfilling when you can get a group to come together and accomplish a common goal.
